MCHC MISSION

The purpose of the Commission is to initiate and conduct programs for the preservation of the historical heritage of Madison County.

MCHC GOALS

The goals of the Madison County Historical Commission are to preserve, protect, and promote Madison County's history and resources for present and future generations' use, education, enjoyment, and economic benefit. These goals may be accomplished through a variety of activities including, but not limited to, placement of markers, surveys of historical buildings and sites, preserving historic cemeteries, digitizing books and newspapers, preservation of the county's heritage through written and oral history, and promotion of education to the citizens of the county and its visitors.

MCHC MEMBERS

Members of the Commission shall be appointed by the Commissioners’ Court during the month of January in odd-number years and shall serve a term of two years. There are no term limits, and therefore, Members may serve any number of consecutive terms.
